A Photo Journal-San Sebastián
San Sebastián or Donostia (in Basque) is a beautiful city located in the Spanish Basque Country known for its beaches, surfing, and of course, food. I spent a fun, albeit rainy weekend exploring San Sebastián during my study abroad in Pau where I discovered my love for Pintxos (or pinchos), the Basque version of tapas. Pinchos (“pincho” in Spanish means spike) comprise of an ingredient or a number of ingredients – fried anchovies, iberico ham, melon, salmon etc. -atop a slice of bread, fastened with a toothpick. The toothpicks may be color coordinated to denote the price of an appetizer, or to indicate how many appetizers an individual has eaten.
My summer spent around the Basque region was the most memorable summer to date. My friend, Sophia & I both cannot wait to revisit San Sebastián, take a food tour, soak up some rays on the beach, and head to the Guggenheim in Bilbao.

The María Cristina bridge
The bridge is known for its four impressive obelisks, one in either corner, measuring 18 metres in height and crowned by groups of sculptures.

The Santa Catalina Bridge, the first to be built in San Sebastián, was wooden for many years. Its long history and strategic location have seen it destroyed and rebuilt on several occasions.
Have you ever been to San Sebastián?
What was your favorite thing to do there?
