I’ve wanted to visit Minneapolis after reading all about the city’s first vegan butcher shop, The Herbivorous Butcher. Yup, you read that right, nothing in there is made from animals. Everything is plant-based and vegan! And, of course, I want to visit and eat my way through all the vegetarian-friendly restaurants in Minneapolis.

Where to Eat in Minneapolis: A Vegetarian-Friendly Guide to Restaurants in Minneapolis
Thanks to Instagram – I swear by geotagged posts and searching hashtags to find the hot spots when researching for new places to visit – I’ve discovered the five vegetarian-friendly restaurants in Minneapolis that I can’t wait to try. Some of them offer veg-friendly and vegan dining options while others are 100 percent vegan!
1. Seward Community Cafe
Opened in 1974, Seward Community Cafe is Minneapolis’ oldest collectively run business. Everyone is paid a fair wage, and the dishes made make use of local, organic produce. And there are plenty of options, such as the vegan mac and cheese, tempeh pesto, and vegan nachos!
2. French Meadow Bakery And Cafe
French Meadow Cafe opened its doors in 1985 and has been serving up farm-to-table cuisine ever since. The cafe places huge importance on where its food and produce is sourced from, and you can’t stop in without trying a plate of Earth Wings. These are made from oven roasted cauliflower in a sesame barbecue sauce and tofu cilantro dressing!
3. J. Selby’s
A 100 percent plant-based restaurant exists, and it’s in Minneapolis! The owner, Matt, a former surgeon turned restaurateur, was tired of being an afterthought at restaurants as a vegan. J. Selby’s caters delicious plant-based options to everyone who wants them!
4. Crepe & Spoon
Crepe & Spoon specializes in vegan treats and crepes that are both sweet and savory, with meat-cuts from the local vegan butcher shop, Herbivorous Butcher, and some interesting ice cream flavors, such as black sesame, thai tea, and ube.
5. Galactic Pizza
Galactic Pizza in Minneapolis is a quirky pizza parlor whose motto is “planet saving pizza.” They do an incredible job caring for the planet. Your pizza is delivered using electric vehicles, and renewable wind energy powers the restaurant.
