Friday Five 9/18/15

Another week gone by that seemed busier than the last. I’m so occupied with work these days that I haven’t had a chance to feel bored in quite a while! It’s definitely a good thing. I got a call today from my childhood neighbor to see how I was doing and what I was up to. I haven’t seen him or his family since oh, probably 2011. It made my evening – a good sign for what lies in store this weekend. 🙂

Seriously the best idea ever, I’m so sad I’m not in DC right now to sign up, cause you bet your bottom dollar I would be front and center for that class! I even have a cat scratched yoga mat to take. 😉 But, if you’re in DC and you love cats, and yoga, then consider heading to Crumbs & Whiskers. They have two sessions on September 22 – 2:30pm and 4:30pm…worth skipping work for, imo.

The Ultimate Toolkit For Last-Minute Travelers

friday fiveI absolutely love WeWork’s creator blog – it’s perfect if you’re a creative/freelancer/entrepreneur or just millennial in general. I really like the idea of a go-to box for keeping all my travel essentials in one place, cause lord knows, I’m a messy person!

Millennial Handbook Lesson 5: Be Your Own Number One

I’m sure people are sick of hearing about how experiences are better than things, and how most millennials don’t just want career success, they want to be passionate about what they’re doing. But, until you’re in the situation yourself, like I was, I don’t think you fully comprehend it. I had a lot of opportunities fall through (visas, jobs, grad school etc), which was disheartening. But, it led me to figure out what truly excites me: designing and social media management. Thanks to the technological age we live in, I’m able to work as a digital nomad, and travel whenever I can.

16 Reasons To Move To Sri Lanka

I don’t want to move there, but I’d love to visit. It’s insanely beautiful…hmm, going to start planning a trip. So many places to see in this lifetime!

A Perfectly Reasonable Request – Mindy Kaling
mindy
I just started listening to Mindy’s new book Why Not Me? and so far I like what I’m hearing (no surprise). Mindy’s one of my favorite actress in Hollywood a) because she’s a fierce woman and b) she’s brown like me! The lack of diversity on tv is appalling to say the least, and so for Mindy to make it as a writer, executive producer AND lead actress on her show, The Mindy Project…that’s truly something! Plus, she’s funny as hell – I got the audiobook version only because she narrates it.

Happy Friday – have any fun weekend plans? I’m off to spend time with my cousin. Should be fun!
